Bethany George Awarded 40 Under 40, Class of 2020
Bethany George, Rev1 managing director, was recently the recipient of the Columbus Business First 40 Under 40 Award. The announcement came at a time when 100 percent of everyone’s focus was on the pandemic and employee and visitor safety. We applauded Bethany internally, of course, but we all—especially Bethany—were focused on helping our startups and entrepreneurs manage through the acute challenges of last spring.
The 2020 virtual 40 Under 40 Gala Recognition is coming up in early September. From our many remote locations, we wanted to give a giant shout out to Bethany George—for this honor, for her work and dedication, and for her great determination to help make Central Ohio the very best place for entrepreneurs to start their companies.
Here’s Why 40 Under 40 Chose Bethany
As a managing director for Rev1’s investor startup studio, Bethany brings startup advisory leadership that positions companies for success, including accessing capital from Rev1’s venture funds. With Bethany’s support, the company has invested in more than 100 companies since 2013. To date, Rev1’s clients have garnered a more than $2.5B impact on the Columbus region.
The 40 Under 40 Award recognizes all that Bethany has accomplished in her career, supporting entrepreneurs and leading the Columbus community in so many ways. This Award is highly competitive and a tremendous honor as 2020 saw more applications than any other year on record.
Community impact is a cornerstone of the 40 Under 40. Beyond her role at Rev1, Bethany serves the community in important ways. She focuses especially on advancing social entrepreneurship and mentoring the next generation of venture investors.
As founding executive chair of VentureNext, Bethany helped coalesce a community of the next generation of early stage investment professionals united by an interest in investing in the Midwest. VentureNext, now a collective of 100+ investors representing 75+ funds with $5B+ assets under management, has shared 400+ unique deals and made ~25 mentorship connections since Bethany fostered the organization’s launch.
Bethany is also on the Board of Directors of SocialVentures, a 501C that supports businesses that intentionally integrate social impact as a non-negotiable component of their business model. As an international speaker, Bethany has also represented Ohio’s entrepreneurial community across the world.
Through her work at Rev1 connecting high-growth startups with the services and capital they need to her passion for volunteering with organizations that serve the region’s venture investors and social entrepreneurs, Bethany delivers a direct impact on Columbus’ innovation economy. The Rev1 team is delighted to see Bethany honored with the 2020 40 Under 40 Award for her dedication, achievements, and service to our community.
