Ushering in a New Year
Happy New Year!
If ever there was a perfect image for kicking off the new year, it is the sight of the Christmas Day launch of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope.
What a gift to the world—the panorama of the sky!
I have always been fascinated by anything to do with space exploration. I get that from my dad, a chemist whose interest in space took hold when he was in college around when the U.S.S.R. got the jump on the U.S. with the first artificial Earth satellite and the first man in space. President’s Kennedy’s moon challenge and Dad’s work in chemical separation for a company that supplied materials used in an Apollo flight took away some of the sting.
My folks were with us over the holidays, and my dad and I still enjoy and share our curiosity and fascination with aeronautics and space. We are excited to see the incredible discoveries that the Webb telescope reveals. This revolutionary technology will explore every phase of cosmic history and is designed to look back to an age more than 13.5 billion years ago, when the first stars and galaxies were born.
At Rev1 Ventures, we also witness the birth of stars—young companies that are creating imaginative solutions to some of the world’s biggest opportunities in healthcare, energy, information technology, and more.
The Webb telescope is on a month-long journey to its new home a million miles from Earth. While it is traveling, Rev1 will be conducting several new launches of our own—new client engagements, new talent acquisition strategies, and new startup opportunities in the Midwest for like-minded investors from here in our own backyard as well as from the coasts and many states in between.
We wish you a year filled with creativity and discovery. Let’s all aim for the stars.
