Video: Serial Entrepreneur Tells Compelling Personal Story about His Entrepreneurial Path
Growing up in East Liverpool, OH, Mike Triplett, president and chief executive officer, Myonexus, a spinout of Nationwide Children’s Hospital acquired by Sarepta Therapeutics earlier this year in $165MM exit, lived the socio and economic devastation that occurred when the steel industry collapsed.
This fascinating Founder’s Story begins with a question to Mike: Why are you doing what you are doing?
“In my elementary school experience, I was surrounded by friends and kids that would come to school crying. The bank was taking the house. The cars were being repossessed. This factory was closing down. This store was closing down. I’m a first-generation college graduate, so I lived it from my father being president of the union, going on strike and ultimately the factory shutting down when I was probably 12 or 13. That experience led me onto a journey of trying to understand how that happened.”
Mike’s journey became a quest. From a degree in engineering, to post-graduate work, to a career path that includes success in large private companies, research organizations, and on into the startup world, he has lived and driven innovation throughout his entire career.
